Spain’s Acciona wins 16.5 mln euro worth of engineering contracts in Romania

BUCHAREST (Romania), October 15 (SeeNews) – Spanish infrastructure development and management group Acciona was awarded five engineering contracts in Romania worth a total of 16.5 million euro ($19.32 million) in the last year and a half, it said on Thursday.Acciona is developing feasibility studies and technical projects for the construction of five highways and expressways in Romania totalling 540 km in length, it said in a press release.The Spanish group is preparing projects for a 78-km long highway that would connect Bacau to Pascani, a 211-km highway between Targu Mures and Targu Neamt, a 100-km Buzau-Braila expressway, a 80-km Focsani-Braila expressway and a 70-km expresswaythat would connect Braila to Tulcea.These projects, awarded by the National Transport Company of Romania in the last year and a half, are included in the Romania’s transport infrastructure plan. They also make part of the Large Infrastructure Operational Plan, 85% financed by EU cohesion funds and 15% by the Romanian budget.Acciona is a Spanish conglomerate dedicated to the development and management of infrastructure and renewable energy projects. The company is already present in the Romanian infrastructure construction market with water contracts such as the expansion of the sludge line of the Pitesti treatment plant or the construction of 50 km of sewerage and drinking water network with 20 water pumping stations.Acciona employs 39,699 in 65 countries, according to data published on its website.
